Is Pakistan a democracy? This exactly is the question raised by the Minister of External Affairs in the Government of India yesterday.
Pakistan has been making claims that it is a democracy and the elected government in Islamabad is the sole power making strategic decisions in Pakistan.

Genuine democracy does not merely mean holding elections. The process of democratisation makes representatives accountable and ensures it does not encourage separate and different centres of power. The pretence of democracy is not democratisation. It is not for us to advocate but most would like to know who runs the show?

Pranab Mukherjee told his Pakistani counterparts.

Although Pakistan has an elected government in the center, the shots for taking actions in the aftermath of the Mumbai Terror attacks are being taken by the Pakistani army. Whenever questions related to the ISI, India and the terror network in Pakistani territories come, the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan just become puppets in the hands of the Pakitan Army General. This is not democracy. This is just an extension of the dictatorship that Pervez Musharraf brought to Islamabad albeit in disguise to let the Pakistan army gain the faith of the Pakistani public gain. So, any claims by Pakistani politicians of Pakistan being a democratized nation are false on all accounts.

Here I am going to list the top five Military Advantages India has over Pakistan. Today it has become more imminent to make such a comparison so as to get the Pakistanis to know that what India is capable of doing to them if there is war between the two countries.
1. India’s history of victories over Pakistan in all three wars fought between the two countries - 1947, 1965 and 1971 which resulted in the dismemberment of the Pakistani state into two separate countries.
2. India has more than double the numbers of active Military Man Power than Pakistan. Apart from that India has as many Paramilitary and state police forces as the number of Active Military forces in Pakistan. India Men - 1.3 Million, Pakistan - 0.6 Million
3. India has more than double the number of Battle tanks than Pakistan with superior technologies and better trained war troops having experience in battles around the globe in various UN security forces. India Tanks - about 4500, Pakistan Tanks - about 2300
4. Indian Air Force has more than about double the number of fighter aircrafts as Pakistan. The aircrafts with the Indian Air Force are of better strike capacity with capacities to carry weapons from conventional to nuclear weaponry systems. The Indian fighter pilots are better trained, have participated in many rescue operations in the past and have in many cases outmaneuvered the pilots of other countries in joint military exercises.
5. The Indian navy is one of the biggest in the world, has an aircraft carrier and many frigates submarines whereas the Pakistani navy doesn’t have an aircraft carrier and the number of other vessels with them is also less than half the Indian numbers.

These are just a few of the advantages the Indian military has over their Pakistani counterpart. So, if there is a war between the two countries on any matter then everyone knows who has the better chances of victory. India can wipe out Pakistan from the globe if the need be.

Can you ever think your country’s biggest city being attacked by terrorists who are your neighboring country’s citizens and the state agencies of the country involved in facilitating the attacks by providing them with military grade training and equipment and your country’s government declaring in public and directly to that country’s embassy that there will be no military actions taken to avenge this. I know no one can believe this.

But that is exactly what the current Indian government has done. The Indian embassy in Islamabad has declared to their counterparts that the Indian military is not going to attack Pakistani territories to eliminate the terror network spread out along the Pakistani border with India. This government has gone insane and is taking no appropriate actions to curb the menace of terrorism that the Pakistani state agencies like the ISI and the Pakistani military have supported throughout and are now claiming their distance from the terror groups.

This is going to have adverse effects not only on the image of the Indian military’s strengths but will also embolden the terror outfits running from the Pakistani territories. The only solution that now comes to my mind is that this government should be defeated by full force in the coming elections and the sitting opposition party should be made victorious by full majority.

Pakistani media in the recent tactics to save Pakistan’s face and fate is trying to project Intelligence agencies of India, US and Israel as those spreading and supporting the terror strikes inside pakistani territories. They have even gone to the extent that the Indian forces staying in Afghanistan to protect Indian nationals who are engaged in rebuilding the war torn country are RAW agents and are well trained personnel of the Indian Paramilitary forces trained for infiltration. Pakistani media says that these forces along with the CIA and Mossad are trying the de-stabilize the North Western Frontier province of Pakistan by supplying the tribal warlords with weapons and funds.

But why do they forget the fact that the terrorists who committed the Mumbai terror strikes were of Pakistani origin, trained and sent by the ISI and Lashkar-e-Toiba. The Pakistani intelligence agency is hand in gloves with the so called Jihadis and is trying to hide them after the crackdown on the Jamat-ul-Dawa by the Pakistani army which itself is just cosmetic.

We can only hope that Pakistan gets the good sense to uproot the terrorist mentality from its society otherwise Pakistan is going to face the same reality as Afghanistan in the times to come.

Barack Obama the president elect for the US has been giving statements about the war on terror for the last many days. He had in some earlier statements said that America reserves the rights to attack Pakistani territories in the event of terrorists using Pakistani soil for attacking the US forces on the Afghan border. But he has gone soft on Pakistan after the terror attacks on India. He should have advocated prompt Military actions against the Terrorist training camps in the Eastern parts of Pakistan bordering India. But he has been showing double standards when terrorist activites against India are concerned.
But India should also reserve the rights to attack any country which harbors terrorists against India and should flush them out. India should get the support of the world leaders and force Pakistan to take actions against the terrorist organizations based of Pakistani territories, but if Pakistan doens’t yield enough India should attack the terrorist camps in Pakistan and give them a befitting lesson.

‘Fashion’ and ‘Technology’, these are the terms that everyone is aware of. Even a lay man can differentiate and define both Fashion and Technology separately. But what about ‘Fashion Technology’? ‘Fashion Technology’ is the term I came across first when I had decided to enroll in a course by the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi. My perception about the term - ‘Fashion Technology’ before joining the college and after I joined it was totally different , but still I had no idea what it is gonna be in real.

I always thought what relation do Fashion and Technology have. I burned a lot of the precious fuel in my head but couldn’t find out any answer that could not satisfy my quest. But after the Induction Program and a series of seminars I started to get a bit of the thing. I started with the understanding that what ever is thought to make in fashion requires some or other form of technology to convert it into a tangible form. That is where technology comes in with fashion i.e when you require to convert the idea into an object.

Fashion shows are the best way to showcase a fashion designer’s collections to a select audience that appreciates the beuty and utility of their designs. This also gives them the required publicity so that a larger market base can be attracted. But what is the purpose of fashion shows in colleges ??

I can understand the utility of fashion shows in a Fashion Design institute, where the student designers design some original dresses and some copied from the fashion design fraternity around the world. But the fashion shows in the colleges that are no where related to fashion seems to be a joke. It is not only a joke in the sense of a general college organizing a fashion show but also in the type and quality of designs and clothing that are used on the ramp. The models used — i can’t withstand the ugliness of the show. They are the commoners whom you won’t take a look even if they came in the most glamorous looks they could afford.

Fashion shows incolleges is just a mindgame where in the students think this is what a fashion show sould be like and don’t get a even a glimpse of the real thing.

Today I am going to write about Fashion and Fashion Technology. First of all let us ask ourselves - What is Fashion. Now a days the word fashion is being used more frequently than ever. Fashion is a vague term used now a days to describe anything that a person may wear or do that is not done by others before. Previously fashion was used only to describe clothing or anything that was used for covering the body. But now the span of fashion has included everything that comes in use by human beings be it garments or latest mobile phones. Fashion now encompasses everything. Previously clothing used to be the main object to show oneself fashionable, but now the pattern and trend has changed to a great degree. Now I-Pods take the priority place for the youngsters to decide if someone is fashionable enough or not.
This means technology is making inroads into the area which was earlier the domain of fashion, mainly apparel. But is that ‘Fashion Technology’? No, that is not — I will deal with the subject in my subsequent posts.
