English Cricket Players become millionaires in Indian Premier League II - Auctions
The English cricket players Kevin Pieterson and Andrew Flintoff have become instant millionaires after their auction in the second edition of the Indian Premier League. The first edition of the IPL that was held last year in Inda has seen similar auctions taking place and MS Dhoni the current Indian Cricket Team caption, had been auctioned for the highest amount of USD 1.5 Millions.
But the English crickets duo have surpassed the price tag of even Dhoni and have become the highest paid IPL players. They have both been auctioned for the amount of USD 1.55 Million each. Andrew Flintoff being snatched by the Chennai Super Kings captained by MS Dhoni whereas Kevin Pieterson has been taken up by the Hyderabad team owned by Vijay Mallya the owner of the Kingfisher Airlines and Kingfisher brand of beer and bottled water.
The IPL had changed the face of cricket in India last year and had become a global phenomenon as it was broadcast throughout the world and watched by people of all cricket playing naitons. This year it is being said to be of even a bigger scale. It now just is a matter of wait and watch to see if the T20 - IPL will fair the same way even during the times of economic recession. This will depend a lot on the amount of sponsorship and advertising revenue generated for the event. But it seems doubtful as all the major advertisers have pulled the strings of their wallets to preserve the all necessary cash during such gloomy times.
What more - pakistani cricketers that were not included in the last episode of the tournament will not be able to get a part of the lucrative IPL. This is gift the Pakistani terrorists have given to their fellow cricketers. Way to go Pakistan.
